» » » » Boom Records to make inroads with Trap Queen Riddim

By Tawanda Ngena

Relative newcomer to the fore, Boom Records, recently launched an audacious bid to become one of the powerhouses in terms of local dancehall with the release of the 'Trap Queen Riddim' barely a fortnight ago.

The 'riddim', earmarked to announce Boom Records' arrival on the scene and cement its name as a studio of repute was produced by Mugo Mix & Naiza Boom and carries songs by a massive 31 artists!
Amongst that large contingent of artists are the likes of Kabhidha/ Maffcat/ Fizzman Juntah/ Ezbee Fyah/ Kinjah/ Muffah/ my owne famous T and Softaz, to name a few.

In-house producer at the Chitungwiza based music stable, Mugo Mix, whose real name is Wayne Mugoti said that the riddim launch was a huge step towards making Boom Records a household name.

" I believe that this is the project that is going to propel Boom Records to dizzy heights and get us the due recognition we deserve.
" It has been a long time coming and we believe that the time is just right for us to finally challenge for honours on the local market", he said.

As to the inspiration behind the riddim itself, Mugo Mix said,

"I decided to name the riddim *"Trap Queen"* Because i was once in love with a girl named Trap Queen.

"The title came to me through evaluating and considering how much i was in love with her at that time. I felt that I just had to find a way to show her how i felt and how much i appreciated her loving me as much as i did, so i did a riddim for her".

But just who is Mugo Mix and how did this all begin?
"I started doing music in December 2014. Then later on in August 2015, I met Lady Squanda. From that time and onwards I started working with Lady Squanda as her Graphic Designer.

" That opportunity was the kickstart i needed to chart out on my own and launch a career as a producer. I owe it all to Lady Squanda because she is the one who introduced to notable industry names like Crystal and many many more. From that moment on I knew I was headed in the right direction", he said.

Besides Music, the producer said he was also looking forward to acquiring the requisite papers for a Course in Graphic Designing with COSSA College.

Boom Records' previous work includes the Black Leather and Deep Love Riddims among other projects that did relatively well for the label.
Mugo Mix said the fans can look forward to hearing more from them now.

" We are definitely going to make sure we our fans are not starved and also continue putting out hit after hit. Currently we are working on the *Sweet Melody Riddim* at the same time doing a Singles Collection for Princess Tiffalene so our fans should expect fireworks this summer", he said.

According to Mugo Mix, Boom Records was founded in December 2014 by himself and & 'partner in crime' Naiza Boom.

Located in Seke Chitungwiza , Mugo credits Ras Links / Jemba Fire / Kello Boy and MD as being among the brains and financial muscle behind the label.
