» » » Bhanditi Kid: Dancehall's Latest Find......?

By Tawanda Ngena

In an effort to not only establish but cement his place in the music industry, dancehall newcomer Leeroy 'Bhanditi Kid' Thawani recently released a 6-track singles collection CD onto the market.

Tracks on the CD include Babie Skiri Rako, Criminal King, Pum Pum, Number One, Summer Song and Hatina Friendship.  The 18 year old 'yut boss', as he is affectionately known said that he released the 6 singles in order to 'appease' his music hungry fans.

"Ours is a genre in which the fans are always clamouring for more and more songs and your longevity in this industry solely depends on you being able to satisfy this need with hit after hit.
" I hope my fans receive and get to enjoy this offering that i have made for them. It contains songs about love, life and ofcourse partying since we are in the summer and the festive season is drawing near as well", he said.

Clearly these 6 tracks are there to only serve as a teaser and whet the appetite of music fans as it may be because his debut album is only a month away.

According to the 'yut boss' his debut album is set to feature the who's who on the local scene in terms of producing, from T MAN, OSKID, NASH, LEVELS AND FANTAN to PTK among others.

"We are working on an album called VABEREKI VANGU which will comprise of 12 tracks. It is a project which I dedicate to my parents, to whom I want to show my gratitude for bringing me up and making me the man I am today.
" It is their love, their understanding, their guidance and most importantly their support that I am grateful for. The fans can expect the album sooner rather than later because our plan is to have it out by mid-november", said the 18 year old chanter.
The Mbare born and bred chanter counts the likes of Seh Calaz among those most inspirational to him.

"I am an artist and song writer, my music caters for both the youths and mature audience.
" I try to be versatile in my style, delivery and lyrical content as well". I would like to acknowledge 'Gina Mubhanditi' for the mentorship", said Bhanditi Kid.
Mbare has a long history of churning out talent especially when it comes to dancehall and some might go on to call it the 'home of zimdancehall', whether Bhanditi Kid will carry on that tradition, who knows. One thing that is for sure is he has all the time in the world to assert himself and is definitely a talent for the future.
