Zim Hiphop Awards nominee in the 'Best Promoter' category, Iampreezo (real name Taona Matsvai) has called upon the hiphop community, the media and more importantly the fans to come through on the 17th of December and join the Street Hiphop Tour family in celebrating its first anniversary at Club Gunners (PamaStones) in Highfield.
"I am appealing to the local hiphop community and every hiphop fan out there to come through and help us commemorate this special occassion.
"It is not only our birthday that we are commemorating here, but we are celebrating local hiphop and acknowledging the progress that has been made thus far", said the Street Hiphop tour founder.
"This coming event is definitey going to be the mother-of-all parties! so come through and celebrate this anniversary with us. Come through and lets #fillup Gunners!!"On a parting note, iampreezo had this to say,"With each new edition of the tour we have made stride after stride and the fact that we are here today (in a not-so-favoiurable economic environment, i might add) stronger than ever before and still raking in the numbers in terms of attendance figures speaks volumes", said iampreezo."These are goals that we were working on from day one and our mission will remain the same going forward. Hiphop deserves its place in the sun and we are here to make sure of that."I would like to believe that we have made considerable ground in as far as our goals are concerned. We have taken hiphop to the people, we have given tomorrow's stars a platform from which to be heard and a launchpad for their respective careers. But just how far has the Street Hiphop tour gone in the fulfillment of its mission and said goals? Iampreezo believes that they have covered quite some considerable ground." No matter how tough it gets, never lose sight of your goals", said Matsvai."The biggest lesson that I learnt was 'never give up on your dreams', stay focussed on your vision, keep pushing and God will be there to bless your hustle at the end of the day!An achievement worth celebrating indeed, and one that brought with it a few lessons as well along the way for the Team Legacy frontman."I am happy that we soldiered on and as we celebrate our first anniversary, we look back at the journey we have travelled thus far in anticipation of what the the coming years have instore for us. This is only the first in a series of milestones that we set for ourselves and I am happy that we are here today celebrating it", he said."Truth be told, it has not always been rosy, we had our ups and downs just like everybody else. The initial stages were pretty tough and the low attendance figures back then did not help either.Looking back at these first 12months, iampreezo said that earlier on there were a few 'bumps' in their road but they managed to manoeuvre through them and stay on course.Harare's high density surburb of Highfields or 'fiyo' which is going to provide the setting for this grand occasion is Iampreezo's birth place and also home to the Street Hiphop tour's largest contingent of followers.Iampreezo said that it being such a special occassion, there would also be a few surprise guests and perfomers on the night. The show is set to be headlined by the likes of Mc Chitah, Jnr Brown, Brian G and GZE among others.
