According to him, that is one of the ways in which the whole
world can take notice and also appreciate the talent that is in abundance locally.
He said this on the sidelines of what is sure going to be one
of the 'collaborations of the year' (and for some time to come) after he hooked
up with Sierra Leone dancehall queen, Accurate Jojo and collaborated on a song titled
'Sweet Love'.
The single 'Sweet Love' was released on November 14.
Naiza, who is also a producer at Boom Studios from the dormitory
town of Chitungwiza said that, this was all part of a muvh bigger plan to take his
brand onto the global stage.
"I thought it was good to have a collaboration with artists
outside our own boarders, as this presented me with an opportunity to create an
even larger fan base outside my own country.
" This is the first of many such collabos that I have planned.
All I can say to Zimbabwe and the world at large is, look out for more!", he
said.
Naiza and Jojo met online and the collaboration came about as
a result of the mutual respect for each other's talent and ability.
"The idea for a collabo came after i had sampled some of
Jojo's music, from thereon I just knew that I had to approach her and her management
and see how we could go about it.
"After they heard the idea and had listened to my work too,
they were quite impressed and willing to let the collaboration go ahead and as they
say, the rest is history", said Naiza.
We also caught up with Accurate Jojo, who, speaking from her
base in Sierra Leone said that she was more than elated about the song as it also
meant that she could grow a fanbase in Zimbabwe as well.
"Like I have always said, music is a powerful tool and it
cuts across any barriers/boundaries, culturally or geographically. It is our one
universal language and this collaboration with Naiza is evidence of that.
"Isn't it just magical how two artists from two different
cultures, backgrounds and countries can come together and unite in song?",
she said.
She also went on to give us a brief into what the song is
about and what the fans should expect.
"The song is all about love in its peak form. The song
is inspired by Love for Africa. In relation to how relationships are going
right now in Africa.
" We are preaching to young lovers on how to respect
and value what they have and how to take care of it", said Jojo.
The Sierra Leonean said that she would not mind coming to
Zimbabwe for more collaborations and shows even as she had been impressed by
the local talent.
"Yeah. If the opportunity was to present itself that
would be a delightful move and I would definitely be obliged to come through
and work with other artists as well as perfoming.
" From what I have seen and heard so far, the
Zimbabwean music scene seems quite vibrant enough and is headed in the right
direction, of that I am sure", she said.
