The festive season is upon us once again and most people cannot
wait to join the merrymaking bandwagon, they cannot wait to finally 'let off some
steam' at the end of another year (regardless of whether it was successful or otherwise),
share a few beers, jam to some good music and dance the night away like nobody was
watching.
That said and done, everybody knows that nothing sets up the
mood and gets the crowd going like a good party song, that's for sure.
Bulawayo based upcoming female emcee, Knowledge Moyo, otherwise
known Frenzy Queen Tasha might just have an answer to that. She is on the verge
of releasing a brand new track that is sure to liven things up this festive season.
The track is aptly titled 'Party All Night' and will be her fourth
official single for 2016.
"This is that time of the year again when everybody is in
a party mood. I wanted to give Zimbabwe and the world at large something to dance
to for this festive season and beyond.
" Just like the title of the song itself might suggest,
it is about leaving all your troubles at home and partying the night away",
said Frenzy Queen Tasha or QFT as she is known to her fans and fellow compatriots.
FQT said that she had embarked on her musical journey barely
3 years ago when she was just a 15 year old girl in High School. While most kids
her age were busy enjoying their youth (and whatever it is today's youth get up
to in their free time), she was busy honing in on her skills and perfecting her
craft.
"I started with RnB and Hiphop, but as time went on and
naturally because zimdancehall was on the rise I was inspired to take that route
also and I ended up doing dancehall for quite a while.
"However, I then later recognized that hiphop was more accepted
and appreciated where I come from and thus I eventually found my way back to where
I had started musically and that is hiphop. I was inspired by local artists
such as Cal-vin and South African rapper, Fifi Cooper.
"Even though I initially faced a lot of discouragement
from the people around me I nevertheless
took the situation like a grown up person and decided to follow my heart rather
than other people's opinions", she said.
Frenzy Queen Tasha said that sometimes her efforts get frustrated
and that it was not easy for a woman in this male-dominated industry but said that
she owed it to herself and all the other women across the world to carry on and
prove that dreams are worth fighting for.
"My journey is only just unraveling but I have had to face
and overcome a lot to be standing here today. Regardless of any strides the industry
has made, we as women artists come face to face with stereotypes and gender discrimination
on a daily basis.
"At times I feel like giving up but there is a part of me
that is passionate and believes that this is my true calling so I won't let go
of my dream that easy.
"Music is my mission and the very same thing I live for,
giving up on it would be akeen to giving up on the very same breath of air that
gives me life", said the 18 year old.
Prior to 'Party All Night', the rapper said that she had managed
to release 3 singles this year that had given her a strong foundation and amassed
for her quite a following in her hometown.
Names of her previous three tracks which were recorded at LV5
Studios include 'Bonasenzai', 'Chameleon Style' and 'Break it'. We let the young
woman herself explain what these tracks talk about.
"The song 'Bonasenzani' was about dancing and making
people happy as I said that I got a dance crew so it was more like a frame for
the dance crew. 'Chameleon Style', on the other hand was about taking things
slowly though surely taking it from the way a chameleon moves, it moves slowly
but it reaches its destination.so it was all about advising people to be
patient and steady.
"The last track to be released was 'Break It', which was
a love song, I did it with one of my rap crew members (Napyck Treys) and it was simply
trying to put across the point that no matter how much people might try to break
a relationship as long as there is presence of love between the two, nobody can
ever succeed in doing so", said FQT.
Recently, to everyone's amazement, we all came to discover that
not only can she sing, rap and was an excellent athlete in school as well, but,
she can also dance!
"I established a 'ladies only' dance crew called
WhinQuins sometime this year after realising that I was a very good dancer and
that I could also make a little money on the side from doing that", said FQT.
Frenzy Queen Tasha is now part of a Bulawayo-based collective
called MoneyTocsMusic, to which she is technically its 'first lady'.
"When I first got into the music industry I was solo
but as time moved on I discovered that working with other artists would help
me, therefore I joined a rap crew called MoneyTocsMusic.
"When I joined
MoneyTocsMusic I was the only lady in the crew but I nevertheless enjoyed
working with the likes of MT Tha Future, Nepyck Treyz, Dat Boi Dee, Dope Ink,
Aizy, Young R, to mention a few. We recently recruited another lady called
Shacky into our crew and we love working as a family in order to take our
dreams to greater heights", she said
