Accurate Jojo ready to drop Debut Album
By Tawanda Ngena
After having churned out hit after hit for the last couple of years, Sierra Leone afro/dancehall artist, Accurate Jojo said that she was ready and felt the time was ripe to give her fans an album.
The yet to be named album is slated for release in early March of 2017.
"The fans have indeed been asking for an album and I'm sure they will be happy to know that I will finally be launching my first album around March next year. It's something that my hardcore fans have been looking forward to for years, so have I.
" I intend to give the fans an album that will be well-worth the hype and most importantly, the long wait. To all of them i say, I shan't disappoint! ", said 'Jojo', as she is affectionately known by her multitude of fans.
Most of her fans will be familiar with hits that made her a household name, among them a long list of songs that includes such tracks like, 'I'm Feeling It' (ft peepuls), '1 Shilling Rope' (featuring fellow musician, Terror who is based in Australia) and another track called 'Chill', just to mention a few.
She is currently riding high on the back of her two recent hit singles titled 'One O'clock' and 'Badman', not just in her own country but across Africa as a whole and beyond!
According to Jojo herself, the song 'Badman' talks about how girls should always be careful of guys who flash material things in their faces and 'One O'clock' is a motivational track that talks about the need to carry on and push even harder in the face of adversity, especially when you have something that you want to achieve in life.
"In the song 'Badman', I am warning my fellow sisters out there and telling them to stay well-clear of these guys who come to them and try to entice the girls with their big jeeps, big coats and jewellery. These guys are only after one thing and once they get it they are on to the next one, leaving many of these girls feeling used.
"On the other hand, the song 'One O'clock' talks about not giving up regardless of what people say or what obstacles may come your way. So stay strong and believe in all that you are and in what you can become", she said.
'One O'clock' was released on August 6 and 'Badman' was released on October 20.
Music is a universal language as it overlaps any geographical and/or cultural boundaries, it brings people together regardless of colour or creed. Music has the power to not only entertain but teach and inspire as well. Noone believes more in this than the 25 year old, whose birth name is Josephine Sallay Mansaray.
"I have done quite a number of hit songs and what motivates me the most is the fact that my music has gone out and become accepted beyond our own boarders and those of Africa as well. I guess it's true what they say when they say 'music knows no bounds'. I have fans all over the globe and it's all thanks to this God-given talent that I can touch so many people.
"Music brings us all together and it's quite a powerful tool. Through it, I am able to speak and be heard, I am able to share my own thoughts and feelings with everyone else across the globe. I am able to touch them in ways that I could never have imagined", she said.
Well and truely spoken, but what is her message to these people across the globe whom she has touched
"My special message to the fans is I love them, let them continue to support African music. None of this would be possible at all without their support and as artists we appreciate them in every way possible.
"I also enjoy the feedback and corresponding with them through social media. For updates and any news they can follow me on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, instagram etc", she said.
'Jojo' said that her ultimate goal was to be more recognized internationally and that as a another brand new year is on the horizon, she will carry forth in her mission and that the release of her debut album will go a long way in establishing her as a force to reckon with on a global scale.
