Hip-hop artiste, Trevor Rufaro Goustino, better known to his multitude of fans as Kay Gee 40 is back with a brand new track titled 'Chitima Cherudo' and seeking to consolidate on the inroads he made with his previous effort '6 O'clock'.
Loosely translated, 'Chitima Cherudo' means 'train of love'.
According to the artist, his fresh offering was produced by Ian Nyasha Mutamiri aka Ahsayn the Beatmaker, the very same producer who was behind Taurai Mandebvu's chart-topping single, 'Better man'.
Chitima Cherudo (Lover's Train) is a love song and in Kay Gee 40's own words, "is one of those love songs that will make you fall in love again and AGAIN".
Word has it though that the track was recorded at least FOUR times before they finally came up with a version they thought was just 'right' for the market.
We caught up with the artist and asked him one or two questions about his latest single:
WHAT IS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE SONG?
Chitima cherudo, the song title was inspired by the way i was playing my guitar (composed it on guitar). It sounded like a moving train, chuuu chuuuu chuuuuuu. The lyrics, it is fantasy, motivational love story. Things i wish could happen to me and things i wish i could do to a girl.
FOR YOU TO HAVE RECORDED THE SONG FOR TIMES, THERE MUST BE SOMETHING SPECIAL ABOUT THIS ONE SONG......
I recorded the song a total of four times because there is a certain sound i was looking for. The song is about expression so it had to have the right feeling. Plus the fact that everywhere i performed, it was a crowd favourite so i had to be very careful on how it would come out.
WHAT IS THE OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE FOR THE SONG?
The song was officially out the beginning of August. It is a third single off my upcoming album SEVEN (Full Circle). We already working on the video since the script is already there. I will be working with Pro Media. We are taking our time so we have a better product.
IM SURE THE FANS WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW YOU CAME UP WITH THE NAME KAY GEE 40 AND WHAT IT STAND FOR...
My stage name comes from my 2 surnames Kanjera and Goustino. 40 is a complete number so is 7, 10 and 24 according to Christianity.
HOW WOULD YOU BEST DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE OF MUSIC?
My style is entirely hip hop. The way i express myself and dress its hip hop. I am an artist who doesn't want to be put in a box. I love keeping my audience interested. So i rap and sing which makes me an Hip Hop and Afro Soul artist.
YOU MENTIONED YOUR PREVIOUS TRACK, '6 O'CLOCK' HOW DID IT DO ON THE MARKET AND WHAT WAS THE RESPONSE FROM THE FANS?
6 Oclock was second single this year being 'Iwe Fara' featuring Mr Noxa and Dobba Don. 6 Oclock did very well both in the streets and on radio. It got airplay on most radio stations and it was in the charts on the Power FM top 40 for 4 months.
The listeners loved it so much they want a remix so i am working on it right now.
WHAT ELSE ARE YOU WORKING ON?
Besides "Chitima Cherudo" acoustic which is to be produced by the same talented producer Ahsayn the beatmaker. I am working on lots of songs i cant say which one is next but we have a lot in our plate waiting for the right time to drop. Everything needs a strategy so that's what we on right now. You cant keep doing same things you did the last time you will get the same results. You dig?
