By Tawanda Ngena

Relative newcomer to the industry, Carter Black drops his brand new single titled 'Keta Skiri' this Wednesday (October 12).
The Harare based rapper whose real name is Kenneth Masukume said that the track teaches the listener to 'know better' when it comes to the ever-evolving fashion trends.
The song which was produced by Gees Records and features fellow musician Lusha West, is the first single from his debut album 'Drinks On Me' that is set to be unleashed on the market this December.

"This is the first single from my forthcoming album and the message in the song is clear enough. It's all about the reaped jeans style, good self presentation and trending fashion.
" The song should be available on radio and in store as soon as all the 'logistics' are sorted out", said the 25 year old.

The young man describes himself as a story-teller, social commentator and his style of music as 'trap-soul' (a combination of trap hip hop and soul music).

"I am a reflection of my environment, I rap about what I see and experience. I want nothing more than being able to put out music that people all over can relate to regardless of age, color or creed.
" I am an ambitious man and at the same time a goal-getter, I do enjoy being able to interact with people and learning new stuff.
"Music is my passion and the goal is to make it the source of my livelihood as well", he said.

‬As to how he got the name Carter Black, Masukume said it was a name that stuck on him after watching Hollywood blockbuster flick "Coach Carter ", a movie in which the main protagonist inspires not just his basketball team but everyone else around him.
"'The name came about as a result of the movie 'Coach Carter', a basketball movie in which he (Coach Carter) inspired his team and the people around him. After watching the movie with my cousins they just started calling me 'Carter', and the name pretty much stuck with me since then. I added the name 'Black' in the end to personalise it and make it my own.
