Following the return of the Street Hiphop Tour and its recent stopover in Mabvuku, BtnMedia_zw sat down with the brains behind the event itself, Taona 'iampreezo' Matsvai to hear his thoughts on how it all went down. The monthly event, established late last year has become one of the premier hip hop shows and a platform for upcoming acts over the last few months.
Team Legacy's head_honcho shared his views on the show, its past, present and future.
Here are a few excerpts from that interview.
What are your thoughts on your recent Street Hiphop tour in Mabvuku?
I can safely say that the Mabvuku show went well and everything was just on point. We owe it all to good teamwork.
Did the Mabvuku show turn out as expected?
The show really exceeded our expectations and so did all the upcoming acts who left the crowd wanting more. The likes of Uchiha Clan ,Mabahwe ,Mc Flirt, Tkmz ,Mc Teezy ,Mc trake and Boi Nash, only to mention a few, really brought their A-game.
We cannot forget the bigger names as well, Mc Chitah ,Jnr Brown,Brian G and GZE always bring the house down wherever they go.
What were the attendance figures like?
The attendance figures ranged between 150/200. We would like to thank the people of Mabvuku for coming through to support Team Legacy's Street Hiphop Tour. It was because of them that we count this event among others as a success.
Compared to your previous events (tours) how would you rate this one?
As Compared to our previous events, this ranks as one of the best, if not the best, in terms of the turn up which was huge plus the performances. We are improving with each new outing and our aim is to make each show bigger than the last one.
Besides the fans and the performances, what other positives can you take from the event?
We also had support from the media (which is always a good sign to see) as evidenced by the large number of journalists_cum_ bloggers who came through.
Our 'sista' Tinopona Katsande (tin-tin) showed up representing Kenako Music as did other notable industry names. Their support is greatly valued and we hope to see more and more such names in our coming events.
What was the crowd's response like to the show?
The audience's response was overwhelming and i'm sure they enjoyed every bit of it just as much as we ourselves did.
What's next for you and the Street Hiphop Tour?
team legacy zw street hip hop movement is not stopping anytime soon, our plan is to take this movement beyond our own borders.
Any areas that you feel you can still improve upon?
Well so far, I feel the only thing we need to improve upon is the marketing side of things so as to extend our scope and reach.
We need to invest more into other areas like posters and fliers because thus far we had been pushing our work through social media. If we can bring in crowds as big as 200-250 just through social media, there is no reason why we cannot rake in even bigger crowds by exhausting all promotional and marketing options.
What is the Street Hiphop Tour's next stop?
Our next stop is Southerton and the event will be held in conjunction with Flame Events ,Mobx Ent , Sosa tv and Southerton hip hop artists.
