For Shazzie Bee, it's all about life
Bulawayo based female upcoming hiphop artist and singer/songwriter, Shazzie B and one of the main proponents for creating music with a message, music that centers around real life experiences is putting together the final touches to her 9-track debut album aptly titled 'All About Life', set for release in early 2017.
" I will be dropping my first album next year and as the title itself might suggest, it is all about my life, the things that I see around me and experience.
" I am putting every bit of myself out there through these songs, I am sharing my innermost thoughts and feelings in the hope that they will touch someone and make a difference in their lives", said the 20 year old.
The singer/songwriter said that her album was laden with and expressed day to day themes.
"This particular album will contain a number of themes, chief among them being, love, spirituality, strife, joy and happiness.
"I sing with a purpose, I don't just write or sing any song without it having some sought of connection to me. More than anything else, I want my music to teach and motivate people", said the artist, whose real name is Wein sharmain Jakata.
Music indeed has the power to give people hope even in the darkest of circumstances, Shazzie herself had a similar experience and music proved to be the just the 'escape' that the young lady needed.
" When my mom passed away in 2009, I was devastated to say the least. I'm my solace, music found me and gave me an outlet to all the emotions that I had buried deep inside me.
"The very first song that I wrote was naturally a dedication to my mom and it was titled 'Mama'. With music, I have found that I can never be alone, it is a 'stress-reliever' of soughts", she said.
The rapper who is inspired by the likes of Jhene Aiko, Emeli Sande and Cynthia Mare said that she would also be dropping 5 brand new tracks this December as a Christmas present to her loyal fans.
The singer/songwriter is also a member of BYO Rap Queens and WhinQuins dance crew .
