At one time he was touted as the heir-apparent to the dancehall
throne, he was one of the few lucky local acts who got the chance to share the stage
with International dancehall stars like Capleton, Elephant Man, Sizzla and Mavado
when they toured Zimbabwe.
All manner of praises were heaped on the young man.
He won this award and that as he went about collecting a wide
variety of accolades......he was enjoying his time in the spotlight and dancing
with the stars, literally and metaphorically.
But somewhere along the way the music stopped......literally!
Suddenly the buzz surrounding him watered down and for a good
two years, very few spoke of or barely even remembered the name, its like he never
existed.
But that is all about to change as the young man launches an
audacious bid to relaunch his career.
We caught up with the young man that the nation got to know and
was introduced to as 'Spiderman' for a brief chat and below are excerpts from that
interview:
"Phew! Its been quite a while. It has been two years since
I took a break from music and for a musician, that feels like a lifetime!
"I decided to take a break in order to finish of my
studies because I don't think I would have been able to do music and focus on my
studies at the same time. Though music is my passion I also released that my education
was important too. It gives me something fall back on just in case the music thing
dosnt last or for when I finally decide to hang up the mic", he said.
In this modern day era, education is key and is just as important
to artists, years back Jamaican dancehall artist, Red Rat took time off music to
also focus on his studies and so did hiphop and fashion icon Kanye West.
The question on many people's lips would be ......has he not
lost his touch? The young man thinks otherwise.
"During this time I however managed to record whenever the
opportunity arose, so I never really lost my touch. I also had time to keep abreast
of all the going ons in the industry so there's nothing really new to me.
"I am much more mature now as the years that I have been
in and the industry have allowed me the chance to gain a lot of experience. All
in all, I can safely say that I am a better person and a musician than I was a few
years ago", he said.
Can the fans also expect 'better' in terms of the music?
"They should expect fireworks this time around! A lot of
brand new music from me is about to flood the market this festive season.
" All the material that I have been working on these past
couple of years is ready to be released. The fans can also surely expect an album
in the not-so-distant future", he said.
Having worked with the likes of Souljah luv, Seh Calaz, Tocky
Vybz(2016) and Tommy Lee Sparta Jamaica, the young man said that fans can look forward
to more Blockbuster collaborations from him.
This is the same boy that Jamaican dancehall artist, Mavado,
gave a watch to after he was impressed by the magnitude of skill and talent that
Spiderman possesses.
