21 year old dancehall artist Sylvester 'Layan' Marumbwa has just released his debut single titled "Zvandadzida Zvakawanda".
Loosely translated, Zvandadzidza Zvakawanda means 'I have learnt a great deal' and the young man said that his life's experiences were a true testament to that.
" The song is easily relatable and I am sure anyone who listens to it will also agree. In my 21 years I have seen and learnt a whole though life will remind you every now and then that you haven't learnt a single thing yet. But that is just the beauty of life is it not?
"Zvandadzidza Zvakawanda is my first official release and I am hoping that it will go a long way in showcasing my talent to the world", he said.
The Chitungwiza born and bred chanter said that it was a proud moment for him and thst releasing his first single was a huge step towards realizing his long cherished dream of being a mega music superstar.
" This is one giant step for me, one that i feel goes a long way towards my career development and me finally being able to rub shoulders with my fellow artists and idols.
" I have been anticipating this moment for a long time and I will push even harder so as to also be counted and recognized locally as well as regionally ", he said.
Marumbwa said that he major inspiration was his mum and that he hoped, like an other well-intentioned child, to make his mother proud.
He promised dancehall fans that his debut album will be on its way soon and that he will be working on collaborations with fellow artists from across the board.
The young man believes that music was his calling and that it was a life changer and his source of hope.
" Ever since I discovered I could sing I have been able to express my innermost thoughts, sharing my fears, my joy and my faith with the listeners.
"Music is a powerful tool, not only can it make people dance, it educates, it makes people cry and it makes them smile too", said the chanter.
Layan, as he is known to his fans, is a full time musician.
