Newcomer to the music scene, Tasha Bling will seek to not only
stake a claim but also cement her own place on the local dance-hall scene with the
release of a debut singles collection album.
Titled, 'Chipmunk Queen Ndini', the 10-track album will officially
hit the streets on November 12.
" It had been a long time coming but I am finally able to
tell the music fans out there that the project is ready for the market now.
" I cannot wait for the fans to listen to my debut singles
collection CD, its a huge step in my career development and will go a long way in
establishing my own brand as well", she said.
The album has the likes of Mugo mix, Big j and Chief Khalian
doing the production work and they are some of the next generation of producers
who are making names themselves through churning out hit after hit so there is definitely
a lot of expectation from the fans and fellow artists.
"I strongly believe that on this project I worked with some
of the best producers and the resultant album is evidence of that and there for
everyone to see. Some of the tracks that stood out for me and which I am sure the
fans will appreciate too are, 'Lyf yemughetto', 'Summertym' and more importantly
'Mai Vangu' because they reflect the life and society around me.
"Lyf yeMughetto is of course my favourite song. This track
and others on the CD focuses on real life issues that we have come to know and face
over the years, growing up. I also made room for one or two party songs as well",
said Tasha Bling.
Dancehall music followers will be familiar with some of her tracks
which include, 'Dhinza Pamangoma', 'Ndine Moto', Ndiwe Wandodisisa', 'Hatichabatika',
'Ndiri Bad' and 'MuBumshort' among others that she has done over the years.
But just who exactly is Tasha Bling ......?
" I am the third born in a family of four, my real name
is Melania Natasha Chindika and I am 19 years old.
"I grew up in the Roman Catholic where I was part of
the church choir. This is where I actually first discovered that I could sing and
that maybe I could make a career doing music.
" From thereon all that I wanted to do was write my own
music and record as much as I can, music to me started off as a pastime but eventually
became my true calling. So through music I hope I can achieve my goals, I want to
sing messages of hope, I want to inspire other 'ghetto yuts' to challenge themselves
to be more", said the 'Chipmunk Queen', as she is affectionately known.
After being inspired by the likes of Winky Dee, Lady Squanda
and Ninja Lipsy among others herself, Tasha said that she wanted to reach those
same dizzy heights that her heroes did but go even further than any of her predecessors
in the dance-hall genre ever did.
The Budiriro-based artist said that her stage name wa derived
from that of Jamaican dance hall artist, Vanessa Bling, whom she said she was a big
fan of and one of the artists to inspire her music and style.
