Rising Dancehall artist Degree Dynamyt real name Everisto Zhuwao has
called on fellow ZimDancehall artists to rebrand the genre as it has
made a lot of noise but still being looked down upon by the masses. He
has also started the year with a new taste of music that might be a
game changer in the much criticised Zimdancehall industry.
The young energetic chanter say he is inspired by Winky D, he is set
to release his debut album titled New DanceHall Testament (NDT).The
album is expected to redefine Dancehall music as a culture and not as
a way to escape poverty.
In an interview Degree said people should expect something out of the
Box from him as he claims to be extra ordinary.
"I know last year the industry was saturated with albums carrying
different messages while others were party anthems and this made to
think of something different," he said.
Degree Dynamyt believes that the Dancehall industry is saturated with
Social messages, but lacks some spiritual sense because people are now
singing for money and claim most of them are trying their luck but do
not have the talent .
"In dancehall artist are over doing the "message" thing and lack
prophecy and guidance in their music which I believe it is my role to
fill"...The album is a deep analysis of the Religious trends around
the globe and Christians should not take it personal.
According to Degree the album will quote many religious books, such as
the Bible and the Koran and the tracks to look forward to are 'Angel D
Varisto' and "Gehena" which is a controversial song that he mentions
celebrity he thinks are going to hell.
Degree Dynamyt made headlines on social media when he publicly
expressed love for Pah Chihera, which Pah Chihera showed ignorance
despite his efforts to reach out to her but this did not stop him as
he went on to dedicate a song for her which did well from an upcoming
point of view.
Degree also got caught up in a love triangle with a married woman and
her step daughter and went on to release a song titled "Sorry" where
he apologised to all affected by the incident, including her mother
and long-time girlfriend. The song also did well although the music
fraternity thought it was a stage managed event to promote the single.
He has worked with many producers like Levels, Rashood, Asap Keagan
and hip hop artist Two Cross. His manager is Anesu Masamvu better
known as Fats. Locally he Idolizes Seh Calaz, Internationally he looks
up to Vybz Kartel and Tommy Lee.
