It is always special when two artists come together and join
forces through music, most of today's greatest songs and albums have come about
as a result of this.
Two local rappers, Psyco and Clique Boi will seek to write their
own names in lights with a collaborative album.
We caught up with rapper Psyco and this is what he had to say,
What is the title of your album?
Heart Scars
Is there a story behind the title?
Yes well I have come to realise the power of the heart and
how fragile it is.
How many tracks does it have?
15 new tracks and two bonus making it 17 tracks in total.
Can you list a couple of the tracks for us and
what they talk about?
'Iwe Iwe', which is about telling a girl how much she will
miss you
and the other track being 'Dreamchasers' which is basically all
about how dreams come true if you work truly hard and never lose focus.
Who produced it?
We worked with a lot of producers, from the likes of I
chunez,Clique Boi,Rockers Mix ,PJ Pharaoh,Nib crouch and more.
When will it be released?
The album should be available on the market sometime in February
next year and hiphop fans need to brace themselves for that because it is going
to be a game changer!
What are some of the themes that you explore
in the album?
We delt with a lot of themes, from Love, Dedication, Rules
of life, Life itself, Poverty and success.
What made you decide to collaborate on an
album with your counterpart?
Well Clique Boi is one of the people that when I work with,
motivates me and I know I will come out stronger with this album and possibly unite
both our fans as well.
How many of your previous songs have made it
on radio, can you list them for us?
For me, 'Kush Story' played on ziFM and 'You' was played on
StarFM. I have collaborated with
internationals like Lord P Felebask and Italy Prince, to mention a few and right
now me and Clique are working on getting South African hiphop heavyweights Reason
and K.O in the studio.
Clique Boi has topped the charts on Ya FM with his single 'Losing
My Mind' and also made inroads on StarFM and ZiFM with the track 'Swagging Up'.
With that said I am promising you that 2017 is the year
Clique Boi and Psyco takeover this game. This album is coming hot and fresh from
the oven and you are the first to know.
Do you have any album to your name, if so give us the name and year.
Genesis 2015 .
Tell us more about you and where your music
journey began.
My music journey began pretty early, I was part of Ice Boys,
the Clique. I was handpicked by Ramsey. From there I occasionally did
freestyles like 'Cank That Spiderman' (2008). 2010 I was Mr Avenues freestyle
battles winner. Then 2014 after finishing form four I joined 3nican and for
sometime I worked with Nargee Nib Crouch G.I.L and more. This year i was doing
features so as to push my name and brand.
Clique boi began his career in 2009 while recording with
Spicy D. He used to perform @ the Book Cafe before it closed down. He has done
so much that I cannot list all and he has worked with top guys like Rockers Mix
as well.
What are your goals in as far as the music is
concerned?
My goals are to work with some of the best and working with
the likes of Clique Boi is one sure way of realising that goal..
What made you decide that you wanted to be a
musician?
Well entertainment runs in the family. My dad was a DJ and
now a music promoter. I liked 50 cent in his prime, I knew the lyrics to one of
his earlier hits, 'Window Shopper' from
a to z and as a result I decided to persue a career in music. Clique Boi, on the
other hand was an Eminem fan and likewise tried his luck and thus far, it has worked
out pretty great.
